These Terms apply to every daily “Write a Line” competition run by Lion Writing unless a daily post on @lionwriting or lionwriting.com states otherwise. Entry is free. This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.

1. Agreement

1.1 Entry means the entrant accepts these Terms.

1.2 If a daily caption conflicts with these Terms, these Terms prevail except for that day’s dates and any tighter word cap.

1.3 This is not a lottery, raffle, trade promotion lottery or game of chance. The Promoter will not pick a winner by random draw, most likes, most tags, follower count, or order of comment.

2. Purpose

2.1 The Promoter reads original lines and pays $7 to the Line judged strongest that day.

2.2 “Give back” is the Promoter’s motive. It is not a judging criterion. Need, kindness stories, and popularity do not win on their own.

3. Eligibility

3.1 Open only to individuals who are:
– Australian residents physically able to receive PayID in Australia; and
– 18 or over at the time of entry.

3.2 Not eligible: the Promoter; anyone who judges; the Promoter’s employees/contractors; their immediate family; anyone the Promoter reasonably believes is using a fake account or a PayID that is not theirs.

3.3 One person, one Instagram account, one PayID. Shared or bought accounts may be voided.

3.4 The Promoter may request proof of age, residency and that the PayID belongs to the entrant. No proof = no payment. The Promoter may withhold payment if the PayID name is not a reasonable match to the winner.

4. How to enter (free)

4.1 Each day the Promoter publishes an official post on @lionwriting.

4.2 To enter, comment **one original Line** on that post during the Entry Period.

4.3 Follow, like, tag, share and Story mention are **not required** and are not scored.

4.4 One Line per person per day. Extra comments from the same person are ignored except a clearly marked replacement of their own Line.

4.5 Instagram delay is the entrant’s risk. If the comment is not visible to the Promoter at close, it is not entered.

4.6 Internet/Instagram cost is not an entry fee.

5. Valid Lines

Invalid and discarded:
– over the word cap;
– copied quotes, lyrics, famous one-liners, or paraphrases the judge reasonably recognises as someone else’s work;
– obvious AI slurry the judge reasonably believes is not the entrant’s words;
– empty, off-brief, or not readable in English (unless that day’s post allows otherwise);
– defamatory, hateful, unlawful, sexual involving minors, or threatening;
– advertising another business or begging for the $7 as the whole Line;
– another person’s personal information.

“Quote” in marketing means a sharp original one-liner, not a quotation from the internet.

6. Timing

6.1 Unless a post says otherwise:
– **Open:** 12:01am Sydney time
– **Close:** 8:00pm Sydney time
– **Winner named:** same night, or by 12:00pm the next calendar day

6.2 Each calendar day is a **separate** Promotion with a $7 prize. Daily prizes are not one pooled jackpot.

6.3 The Promoter may skip a day. A skipped day is not owed later.

7. Judging

7.1 The Promoter reads valid Lines, shortlists, and picks the strongest on impact, specificity, originality and craft.

7.2 Chance plays no part, including ties.

7.3 Decision is final. No argument about taste. The Promoter keeps a one-line record (date, handle, Line, why it won) for at least 12 months.

7.4 A like on a comment means the Promoter saw it. It does not mean it won.

8. Prize and PayID

8.1 Prize is AUD $7.00 only. Not cash in hand. Not goods. Not convertible to a different amount.

8.2 Payment method is **PayID** (NPP) to an Australian PayID the winner controls (mobile, email, ABN or Org ID linked to their account).

8.3 The Promoter does not pay:
– non-Australian accounts;
– PayIDs that bounce, mismatch, or look like a third party / mule;
– BSBs sent in public comments (PayID details must be sent by DM or the Promoter’s form, never in the comment thread);
– crypto, GiftPay, or “just send it to my mate.”

8.4 “Instant” in ads means the Promoter intends to initiate PayID the same day after a valid PayID is received. It is not a guarantee of an instant bank credit. Banks, NPP windows, name checks and fraud checks can delay credit. The binding promise is within 2 business days of a valid PayID and completed eligibility check.

8.5 If PayID fails, the Promoter may retry once or pay by ordinary NPP transfer using account details supplied in DM. If both fail within 7 days because of the winner’s details, the Promoter may award that day’s prize to the next-highest Line.

8.6 The winner is responsible for any tax on the $7. The Promoter does not give tax advice.

8.7 The Promoter is not a bank. PayID outages are outside the Promoter’s control.

9. How the winner gets paid

9.1 Winner is named in a comment reply and/or Story and/or follow-up post.

9.2 Winner has 24 hours to DM @lionwriting:
– full name;
– Australian PayID;
– confirmation they are 18+ and the PayID is theirs.

9.3 Do not post PayID, phone number, or account details in the public comments.

9.4 After payment, the Promoter may reply “paid” in DM. The Promoter will not publish the PayID.

10. Licence in the Line

10.1 Entrant keeps copyright.

10.2 Entry grants Lion Writing a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use the Line and first name / State in any media for Lion Writing (including archive, social, print and merch).

10.3 Entrant warrants the Line is theirs.

11. Privacy

11.1 Promoter collects Instagram handle, comments, and (winners only) name and PayID to run the Promotion and pay the prize.

11.2 PayID and account details are used only to pay and to keep records. Not sold. Not posted.

11.3 Handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Access/correction: hello@lionwriting.com.

11.4 Keep PayID records at least 12 months with the judging note.

12. Instagram / Meta

12.1 Not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Meta, Instagram or any bank.

12.2 Entrants release Instagram and Meta from claims arising out of the Promotion.

12.3 Like / follow / tag will not be a condition of entry.

13. Fraud, banks, audit

13.1 Promoter may disqualify bots, multi-accounts, copied Lines, harassment, and anyone pressuring a faster payment in public.

13.2 Promoter keeps for 12 months: the day’s post, these Terms as then live, judging note, winner handle, and payment receipt / PayID confirmation.

13.3 Many small outbound PayID payments can trigger a bank review. Promoter should pay from a business account in the Promoter’s name where possible and keep the trail tidy. This is operational, not an entrant obligation.

14. Changes and skips

14.1 Promoter may pause or end the daily Promotion. Open days already closed will still be judged if entries were taken.

14.2 Rule changes apply from the next open day after they are posted on lionwriting.com or @lionwriting.

## 15. Liability and ACL

15.1 Nothing excludes Australian Consumer Law rights that cannot be excluded.

15.2 Except for liability that cannot be excluded, Promoter is not liable for late Instagram comments, bank delays, wrong PayID supplied by the winner, or tax.

15.3 To the extent permitted by law, Promoter’s liability for a day is capped at $7.

16. Disputes and law

16.1 Complaints: hello@lionwriting.com with the date and handle.

16.2 Laws of New South Wales. NSW courts, non-exclusive jurisdiction.
